Driftwood is a stone-built, semi-detached holiday home that offers private parking and is situated in the heart of Crantock village on the North Cornish Coast.
Crantock, located on the western side of Newquay, is a charming Cornish coastal village that boasts a rich history and everything you could want for a perfect coastal holiday. With a stunning sandy beach, an array of eateries, and numerous coastal walks, there's something for everyone.
Take a leisurely stroll through the village to soak up the ambience and grab your daily necessities from the village shop. Indulge in local cuisine and drinks at the Old Albion Inn or spend the day at the National Trust beach, renowned for its vast expanse of golden sand and rolling dunes that are perfect for swimming, surfing, and paddle boarding. Lifeguard services are available from May to September. If you prefer to explore the area by foot, put on your walking boots and venture out onto the Southwest Coast path and surrounding areas.
Newquay, located just four miles to the east of Crantock, is a world-famous surfing destination with several cafes, restaurants, supermarkets, and a handful of attractions such as an aquarium and zoo. The North Cornish coast boasts several beaches that are worth exploring, including Watergate Bay, Newquay, and the seven bays that run from Padstow to Mawgan Porth. Trerice, a National Trust house and garden, is a short four-mile drive away and is definitely worth a visit. There are also golf courses in Newquay, Holywell Bay, and Constantine Bay.
Accommodation at Driftwood
Upon arriving at the gravelled parking area, a small step up to the front door leads you into a bright hallway that features a laminate floor. From there, you can access the large, carpeted sitting room that boasts comfortable leather seating arranged around a central fireplace that contains a wood-burning stove. Additionally, there are patio doors that provide access to the enclosed rear patio, a window overlooking the front, and a TV. A glazed door leads you to the fitted kitchen/diner that is equipped with ample storage, a built-in double oven and grill with an induction hob, a fridge, a dishwasher, a table, six chairs, and a laminate floor. Adjacent to the kitchen is the rear hall, which features a door leading to the side path, a downstairs cloakroom W.C., and a utility room containing the boiler, fuse board, freezer, washing machine, and built-in storage.
Ascending the carpeted staircase from the entrance hall, you'll find yourself on the first-floor carpeted landing, which provides access to three comfortable, carpeted bedrooms and a family bathroom.
The first bedroom is a twin that includes two 3ft single beds, storage, and a window overlooking the front. The second bedroom features a 6ft king-size bed, storage, and a window overlooking the front. The third bedroom is another double room that contains a 5ft double bed, storage, a wall-mounted TV, a window overlooking the rear of the property, and an en-suite shower room that features a corner glazed shower with a step up into it, a heated towel rail, a W.C., and a basin. The family bathroom boasts a panel bath, a basin, a W.C., and a radiator, completing the accommodation.
At Driftwood, you'll find two delightful paved patios that are filled with natural light and sunshine.
The first one is situated at the front of the property and is enclosed by a charming picket fence. It features a large circular wooden table, along with fixed seats, making it a perfect spot for outdoor gatherings. On the other hand, the second patio is located at the rear of the property and is accessible via a paved path on the side. This area is enclosed and features a bistro table and chairs, creating a cosy and intimate setting for outdoor meals and relaxation.
