Tarset Tor in Lanehead, Hexham
For a holiday to remember in the north of this great country, it's well worth having a look at "Tarset Tor" in Lanehead, near Hexham. Tarset Tor is a large eco-friendly holiday lodge which sleeps 20 people - so certainly the type of place you could share with friends and family.
Tarset Tor has been built with sustainability in mind, with the main building being made of sustainably sourced cedar. The heating is all from wood pellet fuelled boilers; electricity is subsides by solar power; and the wall insulation is from recycled newspapers. The lodge is all set on one floor, and contains six rooms. Four of the rooms are bedrooms; one room is the kitchen/dining room; with the last room being the bathroom.
The 4 bedrooms are identically laid out with 2 bunk beds. Each bunk bed sleeps 2 people below and 1 person above. In total Tarset Tor sleeps 20 people.
The kitchen/dining room has a wood pellet stove, a large range-style LPG cooker, handmade dining table and benches, and a TV and Wi-Fi.
The bathroom is divided into various cubicles for toilets and showers.
What's going on around Tarset Tor
Set within Kielder Forest in the Northumberland National Park, Tarset Tor has plenty of outdoors to explore while you're here. You can walk in the forest and try the Hadrian's Wall Walk; or maybe cycle the nearby Reiver's Cycle Route. You may also fancy The Roman Army Museum; or the 16th century Anglo Scottish building "Black Middens Bastle House".
Slightly further afield you can visit Newcastle and Carlisle - both of which are 40 miles from Tarset Tor.
