Townsend himself is of particular historical importance as he is credited with inventing the four crop rotation system which is still widely used in farming today and the Hamlet of Helhoughton, which the cottage sits within still boasts a historic 14th Century church.
Decorated and furnished by an accomplished interior designer, Willow Cottage is packed with stylish vintage and reclaimed pieces and handmade touches that reflect the property’s character while still maintaining a boutique, contemporary look and feel. Nature lovers will find Pensthorpe Nature Reserve close by and Cley Marshes and RSPB Titchwell Marshes in easy reach too and you can be at the gateway to the beautiful Norfolk Broads in just 50 minutes where you can join a tour or even charter your own day launch. History Buffs will enjoy exploring the Holkham, Sandringham and Blickling Estates, along with the Thursford and Muckleburgh Collections and numerous small, local museums.
Coast lovers must head to Wells-next-the-Sea with its much photographed quay and narrow gauge railway leading to the wide, sandy beach with its painted beach huts. Or, head West for traditional seaside fun in Hunstanton, with its Sealife Centre and small fairground. Do head East too though and take a walk along the promenade at Cromer and visit the famous pier or Amazonia Zoo.
