You can bring a book and settle in the sun trap of the garden, lose yourself in thought down by the river, or participate in lively debate with whoever happens to be in the attached, iconic tiny pub at the time with your favourite dram or pint, together with copious amounts of laughter and bonhomie.
Behind the cherry red front door this quirky, immaculately presented, riverside cottage, there is a private entrance into the hallway with amble space. Kick off those shoes and hang your coat as you settle down in the open-plan living space. Upstairs there are two large and exquisite bedrooms, one is furnished with a king-size bed, the other with a super king-size zip and link bed. A generous bathroom and shower room are found adjacent. Outside seating can be found in the riverside garden which is shared with the pub.
Rising in the southern part of the Monadhliath massif, the River Spey flows through some of the most beautiful scenery before disgorging its cool, clear waters 172km later at Spey Bay in the Moray Firth. It is the ninth longest river in Britain, and the third longest and fastest flowing in Scotland. Renowned for its salmon, the river entices fishermen from all points of the compass to come and pit their wits against the ’King of Fish’. But it is not only the fishing that draws people to Speyside; this area is rich in history with many fine examples of castles and other historical sites, as well as being home to over 50 distilleries, each producing its own distinctive amber fluid.
Taking its name from the river through which it flows, Speyside is a walkers’ paradise and a mecca for crafters and artists, who come for the unique quality of light, the vast open skies, breath-taking sunrises and sunsets, and just for the sheer exuberance of the area. Once visited, it is never forgotten.
Over the years the Fiddichside Inn has played host to visitors from all walks of life, who come here to indulge their passion for whisky, castle hopping and munro bagging, skiing, off-road driving, kayaking, white water rafting and, of course, fishing.
