Guests have access to the River North Esk, one of Scotland’s premier salmon rivers, with a fishing license included. You can enjoy croquet, tennis, a putting green, and a relaxed drink at the mansion house’s bar, all just a stroll away.
Dozens of scenic walking and cycling paths weave through ancient woodlands rich in wildlife, from red squirrels to otters and even golden eagles. Just a mile from the estate lies the picturesque village of Edzell, home to traditional pubs, charming tearooms, and the 16th-century Edzell Castle with its tranquil walled gardens. Keen hikers can head for Mount Keen, the most easterly Munro, while golfers are spoilt for choice; Edzell Golf Club is nearby, and championship courses like Carnoustie and Montrose are within easy reach.
