One of just four comfortable shepherd’s huts on site, Poppie’s Hut is thoughtfully positioned to enjoy uninterrupted views, a south-facing aspect and the soothing sounds of nature.
Inside, you’ll find a beautifully styled space with dark green interiors, bespoke furnishings, and stunning touches throughout, from the starlit ceiling above the double bed to the cosy wood burner and underfloor heating. The fully equipped kitchen includes everything you need for self-catering, and the en-suite bathroom features a full-sized shower, heated towel rail and complimentary toiletries. Outside, enjoy a private garden with a firepit, barbeque, a hammock, and your own wood-fired hot tub, perfect for stargazing under the clear night skies.
Shepherd’s Lodge is set within the rolling landscape of the Vale of Belvoir, a rural gem where Nottinghamshire, Leicestershire and Lincolnshire meet. This Area of Natural Beauty is perfect for walkers, cyclists and horse riders, with peaceful lanes, gentle trails and traditional villages to explore. Just a short distance away is the magnificent Belvoir Castle, steeped in history and offering glorious grounds and seasonal events.
Adjacent to the castle, The Engine Yard is a vibrant destination for boutique shopping, local produce and artisan food. Guests can enjoy wine tasting at Hanwell Wine Estate, explore farm shops and country pubs, or book a treatment at Vale Retreat, just minutes from the site, offering discounted massages and holistic therapies for Shepherd’s Lodge guests. Equestrian facilities and riding experiences are also available locally, with stabling and bike storage on site if required. A highlight of the grounds is The Duck Inn, a beautifully decorated lakeside summerhouse available to all guests.
