Black Mountains Hideaway in Abergavenny, Monmouthshire sleeps 4 people in 2 bedrooms. Black Mountains Hideaway in Abergavenny; as soon as you enter the cabin you get a sense of the unique style that runs throughout the interior, it’s a cultural treasure trove, presented in soft colour palettes and finished off with flawless, contemporary luxuries. The Master bedroom suite offers sophisticated indulgence with a raised bath, king-sized bed and some fantastic pieces of Welsh art on display. The twin bedroom is striking in chic vintage pale blues and pinks, with deep handcrafted mattresses and high-quality bedding. The living room packs in the wow factor with lots of windows flooding the space with natural light, bouncing it off the whitewashed walls: in the evening the room is transformed into a super cosy resting place, where you can share a drink with friends and family in front of the roaring wood burner. Just as appealing to romantics in Autumn and Winter as it would be in Spring and Summer, with underfloor heating throughout.
Enjoy a morning coffee outside on the little patio area and plan for a day exploring the unspoilt countryside by foot, on cycles or in the car; with stunning mountains, beautiful lakes, friendly villages and magical historical sites, all on your doorstep. It must be mentioned that a short way up the winding, flower-filled lane by footpath, or car, you’ll find one of the most romantic locations in Wales, the medieval church of St Issui at Patricio. The Well at this sacred place in the Black mountains is today still a place of healing, attracting visitors from all over the world. The breath-taking interior retains its medieval wooden screen made of Irish bog oak, wall paintings and intricate carvings which are among the finest pieces of medieval art in Wales. The cabin is attached to the owner’s property by a redundant glass walkway, not used by either the owner or guests. The cabin is completely private and neither overlook the other. Guests and owners share the car parking and the entrance driveway only. Pottery experience - throwing a pot is like magic - watching a ball of mud clay turn into something special in your hands: If you fancy a go, you’ll have a chance yourself while staying at the cabin! Owner Alex’s Studio is on the grounds and guests are made to feel very welcome. A lesson can be flexible, from two hours to a half-day and you’ll learn to throw a pot and make your own mug! Guests can arrange their own tailored experience for a small fee prior to their visit.
Walks, bike rides and drives take you through numerous, magical valleys with idyllic places to stop off and enjoy a picnic. Pop into a village for lunch, afternoon tea or an evening meal, stock up at the local stores and family butchers.
