Berts Bothy is a fantastic couples retreat. The spacious open plan living space is a real social hub and ideal for board games, a few drinks, an evening meal or a Saturday night in front of the Smart TV. There’s also a contemporary shower room. A lot of thought and care has gone into the interior design and it has been furnished with guests’ comfort high on the list of priorities. It’s peaceful location is just perfect for couples or golfing couples.
Discounted golf packages, including club hire, are available via the clubhouse while the well-stocked bar and restaurant serving good quality food is open most days and also early evenings during the summer months.
If you like outdoor adventure, including climbing, walking and cycling, you are surrounded by some amazing scenery and routes around Blencathra and the Helvellyn range. The location is perfect as you are only ½ mile to the A66 which is the main artery through the Northern Fells from Penrith to Cockermouth giving easy access to the whole region. The village of Threlkeld is less than a mile away with a choice of two good restaurants and pubs serving local ales and great food. Within 5 miles is the tourist hot spot of Keswick. This vibrant town has a great outdoor market and plenty of places to eat and drink, and is a firm favourite offering plenty of delis, bakeries, coffee shops and local craft stalls. Its bustling centre has an abundance of quality restaurants, pubs serving local cask ales, independent shops and the famous outdoor and fashion brands.
If you like culture, check out the Theatre By The Lake, 5¼ miles away, with its award-winning arts and drama on the banks of Derwentwater, where you can also hire a rowing boat. For family fun why not try Puzzling Place, 5 miles, a mind boggling attraction based on optical illusions, or the Derwent Pencil Museum, home to the largest pencil in the world, also 5 miles away. For a really wild day out, try the Lake District Wildlife Park at Bassenthwaite or The Lakes Distillery, which offers daily tasting and tours, 12 miles away. If you play golf, great, if not, you have found a perfect base from which to start your adventure. A shop is 4 miles from Berts Bothy near Keswick.
