Southwold in Suffolk
Many of you will be familiar with Southwold in Suffolk. A coastal oasis on the north Suffolk coast,
Southwold has a lovely beach to play on; or to stroll along. A working harbour area where you can buy the freshly caught
fish, or stop for a cup of tea and bacon sandwich - or for a more sea-foodie lunch stop at the Southwold Smokehouse for half a lobster
and chips. Separating the harbour from the town is the common. For those planning a visit to Southwold, I've included a set of photos
to whet your appetite. If you like what you see, feel free to share the photos on Pinterest (just click at the top left of the photo);
or like & share of Facebook; or Tweet away to your hearts content.
The beach and pier in Southwold
First up then is the beach and pier area of Southwold. The sandy beach makes a good place to spend a summers' day. Although the photos
below were taken on the 31st October - a nice bright day, but the autumnal nip to the air didn't stop people building sandcastles. I even
saw someone having a swim, although that was a step to far for me!
The pier is worth a visit too. You can stop for a cup of tea and a little lunch. Or spend a couple of quid in the
Under the Pier Show - it's an amusement arcade, but not as you might imagine. Bet you've never
had a go on the crossing the road with a Zimmer-frame game (unless you've been to Southwold before).

Southwold's Harbour Area
The harbour area of Southwold has a different feel to it than the beach. A working harbour, there are an abundance of boats docked, and huts
selling locally caught fish. You can stop at the Harbour Cafe for a cup of tea and breakfast, or try lobster & chips at
the Smokehouse. For the adventurous out there, a
blast on the Voyager
will give you something to remember! Walberswick is on the other side of the River Blyth, with a foot bridge at leading across at the far end of the harbour. Or
take the Southwold-Walberswick ferry; not a roll-on, roll-off affair, this ferry is a rowing boat.

Across the common
Southwold's main town can be reached by walking along the road which runs across the common. There's not too much to report on the common, although
the flat landscape gives some nice views across the Suffolk landscape, and the town.
