The nearest beaches are the famous dogs bay in Roundstone which is seven miles away where you will also find some interesting shops, restaurants and pubs including ODowds with its now world famous seafood chowder.
There is great fishing in the area with Lough Mask and Lough Corrib close by, while Connemara National Park, home to the famous Connemara Pony and Kylemore Abbey are both within easy reach, providing great days out for all the family.
July 12th 2012 the Roundstone Connemara pony, dog, sheep and domestic arts show takes place.
