Country house(180m2) situated on a big estate where wine, port and olive oil are produced. The accommodation is built against a mountain and the rented section is on the 1st floor, where the terrace and the garden are situated as well. The Portuguese managers of the estate, the 'caseiros', live below the accommodation and takes care of the daily cleaning of the bedrooms and if necesary will change the linen.
The Quinta is in the heart of the Port area, in the midst of the vineyards within 8km. from the town Pinhão, situated in a beautiful mountainlike hiking area and within 130km from the lively harbour town Porto. One of the borders of the estate is formed by the river Pinhão, where you can swim wonderfully in summer within 5 minutes walk from the Quinta. There is a terrace and a lovely garden, from where you have a beautiful view over the vineyards, but also grapes oranges, mandarines, peaches, figs and nuts form part of the crops.
From Pinhão, with the famous tile scene of the station, you can make a boat trip over the Douro streaming upwards direction V.N. de Foz Côa, where cave drawings can be admired in the archeological park, or take the train to Porto. Vila Real with the Palace of Mateus is within 47km.
On request, you can get a guided tour on the Quinta, and the Dutch managers can organise wine and port tasting from own products, but even a course where various types of ports can be tasted. Then there is the possibility of serving a lunch diner with a wine/port arrangement. Furthermore, you can hike with a guide through the vineyards with a visit to other quinta's; Quinta do Passadouro is a fine base to visit other producers of wine and port in the surrounding!
