Loch Ness is 10 miles, and fuelled by tales of the Loch Ness Monster, many visitors to the area are drawn to the two exhibitions at Drumnadrochit, which expound the myth of the Scottish enigma. The Official Loch Ness Monster Exhibition offers eyewitness accounts of sightings, as well as details of research projects carried out over the years. Cruises on the loch can also be booked, and fishing expeditions (with local ghillie) are also easily arranged, with well-run pony trekking found at the Highland Riding Centre nearby. A few miles to the south, ruined Castle Urquahart once served in an important role during the Wars of Independence, and floodlit at night, it can only assume a hint of its former splendour. West of Corrimony, Cannich makes a good place to start exploration Glen Affric, a glen claimed by many to be one of Scotland's most beautiful. Inverness (25 miles) offers plenty of good shops, restaurants, cultural and leisure amenities and Fort William, Skye, Aviemore and Wick are all within a day's drive. Restaurant and pub 3 miles.
