sleeps 4 people. The Arches near Scarborough is set in beautiful countryside above the village of West Ayton; The Arches is a lovely barn conversion situated on the owners’ working farm. Perfect for those who like the great outdoors, there are lots of wonderful walks right from the doorstep. This detached holiday property is ideally situated for exploring the North York
Moors, the coast and the Yorkshire Wolds, as well as many traditional Yorkshire villages. The property has two good sized bedrooms, both with en-suite facilities. The lounge leads in to the conservatory and out to the enclosed garden. There’s a playground area with a swing, slide and climbing frame, which is shared with another cottage within the farm grounds.
Within a few minutes' drive are the seaside resorts of Scarborough, Filey
, Flamborough Head and Bridlington
. The RSPB sanctuary at Bempton is also worth a visit where you can see puffins in their natural habitat. The Dalby Forest with its World Cup mountain biking trail, as well as other trails for all abilities, is within easy reach. There’s plenty to do for all the family with nature trails, treasure hunts and the Go Ape activity centre.
The town of Pickering is just a short drive away where you can catch the steam train to Whitby, travelling across the beautiful North York Moors and stopping off at Goathland (Heartbeat Country). The city of York is just an hour’s drive from the cottage. Visit the famous minster, Europe’s largest gothic cathedral with its stunning collection of stained glass windows, walk the city walls or catch one of the many open top tourist buses to see the sites.
