Gorran Haven: Unspoilt fishing village, very pretty, a tight cluster of cottages on the hillside around the harbour, still with good practical shops (baker/grocer, hairdresser, PO) as well as restaurant and pub. 2 miles south of much bigger Mevagissey. Sandy beach in the harbour; others more secluded within 1 miles; St. Mawes (sailing), 10 miles; Truro (cathedral city), 15 miles; nearest town: St. Austell, 9 miles. Lost Gardens of Heligan, 2 miles. The Eden Project, about 12 miles. ... in Gorran Haven, right on the beach, a quirky 17th cent., Grade II listed, end of terrace cottage, seemingly bigger on the inside than outside. Once the local inn where (so local legend says) drunken customers were rolled out on to the beach to sober up! Now a great beach house, comfortably furnished and fantastically positioned for pub, shops, coastal path and, of course, beach.
Five steps up from tiny lane to front door; hall (for coats/boots) with tiled floor and shower-room (suite). At this level, two twin bedrooms, one with floorboards/rugs, one next to the boiler room (cosy); open metal spiral staircase down to attractive open-plan living/dining/smart fitted kitchen with butler sink, woodburner, ceiling beams and window at ground level looking straight on to the beach; large utility room with dishwasher, washing machine, tumble drier, microwave, fridge-freezer; beyond, a room for children with two single beds, toys/games and washbasin.
Second spiral staircase up to large double bedroom with exposed roof beams, comfy armchairs, great beach/sea views and en suite bathroom (suite with roll-top bath).
No smoking. Loading and unloading outside, car park 150 yards,
reasonably level walk. Good family house, but not suitable for anyone with mobility problems.
