Built in traditional Derbyshire stone, they are set around a lake and surrounded by mixed woodland. A central courtyard area creates a focal point and each cottage has its own patio, as well as shared use of 9 acres of beautiful wooded grounds which include an elevated walk around the lake. Darwin Lake also have the use of leisure facilities at Knockerdown Farm at Carsington Water, 13 miles away which include an indoor heated swimming pool and children's play area. Matlock is only 4 miles away with a good choice of pubs and shops, Peak Rail Steam Trains, The Heights of Abraham and Gulliver's Kingdom. There is a lead mining museum at Crich and the excellent Tramway Village. Chatsworth House is just a few minutes drive as is Haddon Hall in the beautiful Wye Valley. Each cottage has been furnished with fine co-ordinating furnishings and have well equipped kitchens and superb bathrooms. Seven additional new cottages are scheduled for completion in Spring 2007.
