This stunningly converted Regency carriage house on the edge of the estate is named after the family’s triple crown winning horse Gallant Fox. Down a half-mile private drive, on a captivating corner of Dartmoor, the cottage is pleasantly secluded but centrally located, within easy reach of Devon’s beaches, a minute to the A30 and ten minutes into the cathedral city of Exeter. Gallant Fox is the perfect spot for exploring Dartmoor, Devon and Cornwall. Cosy up in front of the log fires in the equestrian stable panelled drawing room with comfortable deep sofas and family games; the perfect mixture of rustic country furniture and antiques, canopied and carved beds, with sumptuous pools of chintz, tweed and tartan in canopy, cushion and curtain. Generous attention to detail has been paid throughout; a small woodland room with lovely views, a well stocked cottage garden with play/game area, a tented gazebo overlooks a stream and a thatched Regency playhouse with veranda sits on the edge of the bluebell woods. Gleaming polished oak floors, exposed stone and love of horse and hound throughout - an unashamedly romantic and comfortable getaway. Drewsteignton boasts Fingle Bridge on the River Teign with glorious walks and riverside pub, NT Castle Drogo with garden, shops and tea room, mythic garden, post office and shop, and Egon Ronay award-winning Drewe Arms. Two Moors Way and Spinsters Rock are available for walkers, plus there is a dazzling choice of excellent pubs, restaurants and tea rooms all within a 5-mile radius. Horse riding, cycling, fishing, swimming, tennis, walking, bird-watching and falconry abound. Five miles away are Chagford and Moretonhamstead with pubs, shops, Gidleigh Hotel and Bovey Castle’s golf course, Miniature Pony Centre, outdoor pools and tennis courts. There is also a Waitrose in Okehampton. The Eden Project is one hour away.
