North Curry : friendly conservation village (PO/store, pubs, fine medieval church) on a ridge within Sedgemoor, that great and beautiful expanse of flat farmland and marshland where the last battle in England was fought. Taunton (Somerset’s capital), 7 miles; the M5, 5 miles. Very good base for visiting the area’s exceptional number of superb houses/gardens, Nat. Trust and other, including Montacute, Hestercombe, Barrington Court, Knightshayes, Lytes Cary, East Lambrook Manor. The Quantock Hills, about 9 miles, the Dorset coast at Lyme Regis, 35 miles.
