Picturesquely set on the East Suffolk Heritage coastline, Aldeburgh is best known for its connections with the composer Benjamin Britten. The acclaimed Arts and Music Festival is staged yearly at the nearby Snape Maltings Concert Hall attracting many famous names and visitors. Venturing further afield the delights of the Heritage Coast are all within easy reach, most notably Southwold, home to the Adnams Brewery, working lighthouse and Art Deco pier, Orford with its 12th-century castle and oystery, Thorpeness Mere and boating lake, Walberswick with the RSPB nature reserve at Minsmere, and Woodbridge, a beautiful market town situated on the River Deben.
