Cefn Camberth

This very spacious and comfortable country house enjoys stunning views from its fabulous elevated position, directly above Cardigan Bay - stretching northwards to the Llyn Peninsula and southwards beyond Aberystwth. With early 17th century origins, the house is set in its own large grounds with charming gardens and woodlands, approximately 800m from Tonfanau Beach and the Dysynni Estuary. Situated in the Snowdonia National Park, it is the perfect retreat for those wishing to relax, whilst the immediate area also offers wonderful opportunities for walking, climbing, cycling, fishing, bird-watching and watersports. Tywyn, with its sandy beaches, leisure centre, swimming-pool, cinema and array of shops and restaurants is 6 miles. From here, the Tal-y-Llyn narrow-guage railway winds northwards through beautiful wooded valleys and picturesque mountain scenery. Only 9 miles away lies the charming resort of Aberdovey - renowned for its golf course and perfect for sailing, windsurfing or just dibbling (crabbing) for hours on the pier. The county town of Dolgellau, which offers many wonderful walks, is 14 miles and Barmouth with its pretty, sandy bay is easily accessible by car or train. The `request only' stop of Tonfanau station on the scenic Cambrian Coast Railway line is nearby. Trains run regularly to the north via Barmouth, Harlech (with its historic castle), the famous Italianate village of Portmeirion and onwards to the Llyn Peninsula; and to the south via Tywyn and Aberdovey to Aberystwyth, where can be found museums, art centre, the 19th Century Cliff Railway and the National Library of Wales. The Centre for Alternative Technology is also nearby. Horse riding and pub, both 3 miles.
