Les Ourgeaux is set amidst five hectares of beautiful private woodlands and gardens with a private lake. It is situated amidst the beautiful and tranquil countryside of the Regional Nature Park of `Périgord-Limousin', on the borders of the Dordogne and Haute-Vienne. The English owners live in the 18th century farmhouse and provide cottages that offer a high standard of independent accommodation. The three cottages and charming pigeonnier are all situated in the superb grounds and each has its own terrace and barbecue area and there is a swimming pool. The hamlet of Pageas is a 20 minute walk and has a pizzeria. The country town of Chalus with its Château Chabrol, restaurants, bars, Friday market and more is very close by. A museum in Chalus shows the trade of the `feuillardier' who gave the name of Pays des Feuillardiers to the chestnut forests around the Monts de Chalus. Chalus is also famous for its associations with Richard the Lionheart, and is at the centre of the `Route de Richard Coeur de Lion' with its chain of historic castles set in the unspoilt Haute-Vienne countryside. There are many local lakes where you can fish, several providing swimming and other leisure facilities. The market town of Thiviers, Brantôme (`Venice of the Périgord') and many other tourist villages of the Dordogne are within easy reach. Visit the WWII Memorial Village at Oradour-sur-Glane, the fortified castle at Pompadour with its racecourse, and the beautiful Château de Jumilhac and gardens open all year. Historic Limoges `City of the Arts of Fire' with its porcelain factories, market and fine buildings also boasts a microbrewery with bar serving seven varieties of real ale, brewed onsite.
