Manaton: Little high village with pub, tennis court, children’s playground, very pretty round its fine granite church, in perhaps the most beautiful part of the Dartmoor National Park; very close are some of its most spectacular rock tors (Hound Tor, Bowerman’s Nose) and also lovely steep tree-filled valleys (Lustleigh Cleave). Golf driving range, 5 miles. Nearest shop, 5 miles. Popular with riders (stables not far); Chagford, 6; the sea (Teignmouth/ Torbay), about 15.
